The ultimate business and life-skills guide about the importance of networking, scaling up, professional relationships, and power ... all followed with clear-cut examples, personal triumphs and downfalls, and to-the-point call to actions. This has been my absolute favorite book on business and life skills thus far, worth more than 5 stars. I simply haven't seen another book that goes into so much detailed depth and intricacy on what tangibly will propel you in life: people and relationships. Keith Ferrazzi outlines not only his journey to multiple CEO and executive positions in Fortune 500 companies, but every footstep along the way. After most chapters, as well, he includes "Connectors Hall of Fame" stories that highlight profiles in history that put into practice the principles he presents. Timeless work here. The certain prose he uses in this book always seeks to put the reader ahead of himself, without ever really boasting. The four section of this book are
The Mind-Set
The Skill Set
Turning Connections into Compatriots
Trading Up and Giving Back
The basic thesis of this book came to me as "be the indispensable switchboard connecting different worlds". Of course this is painfully basic for how much sophisticated knowledge this book contains, but Keith at the most basic level is showing how to connect people through your good intentions and both your similarities. Find your strengths, know your value, build and upkeep relationships through pinging, and live a constantly connected life. He argues human nature is inherently social and connected, and nothing ever exists in isolation. To me, it's a triumphant argument about the DNA inside of all of us, and uplifting every page of the way.
