The first of my "What's playing" series, where I'm casually playing albums front-to-back and reviewing them based on sound, overall vibe, favorite songs, where to listen to the album, etc etc.

Listen to: For an immersive story, background energetic flows, and front-to-back

Personal favorite songs: Fade Away, Young Jesus, Lord Willin'

The Incredible True Story destines itself to be a classic hip hop album from its first story-like introduction "Contact". Logic and a couple of his friends set themselves up in a story mode where they're on a spaceship exploring deep space, trying to find and explore a paradise planet. Logic intertwines scenes with songs to give a pleasant, provocative, and engaging experience. The flow of this album winds back and forth, but stays consistent and never buffers from song to song. Although I've never listened to Logic's work cover to cover, I think this has to be one of his best works. I could feel his passion for hip hop, a great listening experience, and vibing beats from start to finish. Big Lenbo, Lucy Rose, Dria, and Jesse Boykin III feature on this album.

A sense of a young hustler on the rise shines through many of these songs. Confidence overload is definitely part of the equation, but I think he wanted to show that in the industry he's competing in. Nonetheless, Logic seems to be sharing a funny-futuristic tale throughout The Incredible True Story.

One of my favorite parts about the album is the good bit of jazz influence on the production. His fast, energetic, fun, and engaging lyrics blend well with smooth beats and an array of instrumental sounds. Most of the songs have a consistent bump to them (along with his voice); this album was an easy and engaging experience. A bit short on the length, but Logic again seems to be working with pure quality over quantity. He hits on topics like his life story, motivation, being successful, love, and the music industry. The last song (titled the same as the album) talks about doing what you love and his love for his fans. Logic dedicates "it all to the fans". I loved almost every piece of this album. It was a detailed, precise, yet highly engaging piece of work. I'll be coming back to this vibe and flow much more.
